Stab Podcast: CT Surfers Still Party
A horse, sunscreen, Netflix, and Italo Ferreira collide.
“It’s a fucking myth that people don’t party anymore,” says Buck, fresh off a nocturnal escapade in Portugal, fuelled by a forecast that looks like it was drawn by a toddler.
“Yes, the old generation might’ve gone harder, but people still go out. They just get up and train the next day.”
Progress in professional surfing. With 9 hours of competition left and zero gold on the forecast, things are looking grim — especially for Mikey’s wallet. “Europe needs to figure out its timezone. I’m losing 5 out of 6 bets because I have no idea what the fuck’s going on.”
Hopefully, though, he’s placed his money on Italo Ferreira — specifically, the new version of him, which we dive into this week.
“I don’t see a workout video and think, ‘Oh, fuck yeah,’ but it doesn’t bother me either. There are far worse things happening on the internet, like people making orgasm noises in Home Depot. Is his instagram really that offensive?” asks Buck.
We answer that question here.
In other news, there’s a sunscreen brand trying to swallow up every surfer on the planet. “If you’re not riding for Sun Bum right now, you’re probably in trouble.”
And a hot rumour: Leo Fioravanti’s K-Way deal is allegedly creeping up on half a million per year. Pays to be a Roman god, I guess.
Also on the list: a love letter to Horse — a film by James Kates starring Now Deane — and why Netflix has a vendetta against surfing.
Get on with it.
