Here’s the lineup for Snowdonia’s Wavepool contest
If you don’t already know; wavepool competitions are real! The folks over at Red Bull rounded up a crew of swordsman to compete at the recently refilled Surf Snowdonia. The likes of Albee Layer, Zeke Lau, Jack Freestone, Mikey Wright, Dillon Perillo, Brendon Gibbens and more will be giving the world’s best wavepool a whirl. The suavest Roman surf-cat we know, Sir Leo Fioravanti’s will also be hitting the pool with the competitors. “The waves look so fun,” says Leo. “Just to surf it sounds amazing but to compete in it’s even better! Hanging with all the boys for the event’s going to be rad, especially since it’s the first of it’s kind.” The contest will go down in man on man fashion; head to head, wave for wave, in best of five matches. Only the supreme will advance. The heats will be judged by a colorful bouquet of gents; Brad Gerlach, Jake ‘Snake’ Patterson and Alain Riou. “There’s potential for some crazy performances to go down,” says Snake. “With a roster as stacked as this, with names you’ll never see in competition surf fans are in for a real show.” The swordsman: Jack Freestone, Albee Layer Kanoa Iagarashi, Leonardo Fioravanti Kalani David, Kai Hing Slade Prestwich, Brendon Gibbens Yadin Nicol, Mikey Wright Dillion Perillo, Luke Davis Mitch Crews, Hiroto Arai Billy Stairmand, Ezekiel Lau Marc Lacomare, Evan Geiselman Ian Crane, Ian Gouveia Jayce Robinson, Oli Adams Reubyn Ash, Alan Stokes
