Paul Fisher Cops A Grammy Nomination

The former pro-surfer-penis-shaped-board-rider turned disc-jockey gets nominated for the ‘most prestigious’ prize in music.

If you were a pro surfer, what would you do when your time (read: grind) came to a halt? Maybe you’d be lucky enough to sit back and relax on your multiple World Titles and sponsorship dollars. But what if you were a WQS straggler, inexorably escaping the grasps of complete QS consumption without ever experiencing a CT berth?

Would you summon some Brazilian persistence and fight on? Or would you turn your back on surfing in pursuit of a more ‘serious’ career path?

Paul Fisher opted for the later – although ‘serious’ is a serious stretch. Starting off as half of the duo, Cut Snake, with Leigh Sedley, Fisher switched to the solo route a few years later; here he found a market for those who love motorik house rhythms mixed with an overt Instagram personality.

FISHER has been on a tear the past 12 months. Touring globally, encapsulating social media with cooked posts, and a few months back, was nominated for an ARIA for his single ‘Losing It’.

In the grand scheme of things, the ARIA’s mean fuck all, the Grammy’s on the other hand, despite appearing as a circle-jerk to the outsider, are still a big deal.

And Fisher was just nominated for one; ‘Best Dance Record’ for his single, ‘Losing It’.

Of course, Fish celebrated in his idiosyncratic style – taking to IG.

Likely celebrating by uncorking a couple of these…

Or perhaps even getting absolutely whacked in respect to his most viral Insta post…

Regardless if the Fish wins or not, you can be certain he’ll wreak havoc at the awards night. Even if you’re not a fan of his music, we recommend you give @followthefishtv a follow to seperate the mundane surfing photos littering your feed.
