Meet Aloha Surf Girls, Oahu’s Topless Surf School

“Somebody needs to put the sex back in surfing. And, hopefully it’ll make women more comfortable topless. When I surf topless I get more waves.”

My dive partner and I were resting on his boat, after a torturous swim caused by a tide change that swept us around a remote point and out to sea, when he asked if I’d heard about the topless surf school on Oahu.

“People on Facebook are losing their shit about it,” he told me. “Did you know it’s legal to go topless in Hawaii?”

I did, in fact, know that. Because of an amusing story from back in 2011 when a pair of women were cited for protesting without a permit in a state that doesn’t criminalize boobs.

But I was not aware that a topless surf school existed on Oahu.

It’s a brilliant idea, one I’m surprised no one else has tried before. People like boobs. People want to learn to surf. Why not combine them? The notion is pure entrepreneurial gold. I needed to learn more!

Aloha Surf Girls  is owned and operated by Erin Wright, a bubbly natural redhead who realized that an adults-only surf school was an unfilled niche. Wright had previously earned a living by teaching surf lessons during the summer and dancing at legendary Honolulu strip joint Femme Nu during the off season.

“Somebody needs to put the sex back in surfing,” she told me during a recent conversation. “And, hopefully it’ll make women more comfortable topless. When I surf topless I get more waves.”

The genesis of Wright’s business springs from those days as an exotic dancer. She realized that the rapport she established with clients in the champagne room would translate into her alternate career in the ocean. Teaching someone to surf is about establishing trust and building a connection with a total stranger. Being funny, crude, friendly. Making them feel a confidence they lack. The attentions of an attractive woman with her tits out go far toward those goals.

“I don’t have to fuck you to give you confidence,” Wright says.

Of course, there is static coming from some within the local community. Puritans who see breasts as a terrifying affront to decency are less than pleased with the notion of women, tits-out, pushing customers into waves.

But Wright is unconcerned. “I’m at a point in my life where I’m just gonna do me.”

Classes are available in various tiers. A run-of-the-mill, top on, lesson will run you $100-120 per person, with couples’ lessons priced at $400. A private lesson, the “TOPLESS VIP $URF/SUP/ U IMAGINE” experience, is priced at $800.

PXSSY PARTIES, aimed at groups of 4-6 people are $2000.

“Imagine Bachelor Party gone Beach vs Strip Club, Exotic Lessons are one one one for all party goers with your own Q.C.E.F. Aloha Surf Girl, she will Teach You the $kills and make sure your Experience is a Fun time that you and your friends will reunite back in Hawaii for another mesh, forget barfing at the bar & dream of boobs , boards & buds on the beach . Get WET , Live Your Wildest Dreams & Surf / SUP in Paradise ! We Put the “A” in Aloha ! Come PLAY Today . Tip$ . Tits . Tip$”

As a relatively new business the future of Aloha Surf Girls is far from certain. But Wright is dedicated , driven, and utterly committed to the concept.

When asked about her plans for the future she replied, “I dream of having a stripper pole trailer behind my truck.”
