Mateus Herdy Marries Floridian Stripper, Gets Chummy With Tenore, Bags Abu Dhabi Wildcard!

Good news comes in threes.

Watch Mateus marry a Floridian stripper here.

After being double dropped by Quikky and Red Bull last year, the astute and gorgeous Mateus Herdy found himself rawdogging the Changaz sans sponsorship and contemplating hanging up the WSL jersey for good.

For someone who placed third in the ’21 Mexico CT and fifth in the ’22 Rio CT, his worthiness in the top-tier has never been in question.

Simply put, Mateus has been hindered by a qualification format that in Jake ‘Snake’ Paterson’s words “doesn’t necessarily measure what matters on the CT” and often rewards “scrappy” surfers well-versed in four-man heat game theory in shitty beach break conditions.

Showing up to a CT as a wildcard and besting the defending world champ’s 15.43 point heat total in the Quarters? That’s how you prove you belong.

“I don’t want to be cocky about it, but I know that I rip harder than a few of the guys on tour,” Mateus told Stab while filming for Stab Highway East Coast. “When you’ve proven that you can get good results in the CT events, there’s a sense of pride that comes with that.”

It’s sad seeing guys like Mateus spinning the wheels and going nowhere. One person who stepped up when his sponsors stopped shooting the money gun was Snapt creator and crimestopper, Logan ‘Chucky’ Dulien, who despite being robbed of over $150K by elite level hackers and thugs, has been working for free to get a new sticker on Mateus’ nose.

Rumor has it Pat Tenore might be soon signing the plucky Brazilian to his new label, Tenore.

According to credible sources, Mateus left Hawaii early to visit the Costa Mesa offices, grab some new merch and break bread with the RVCA co-founder at his Costa Mesa estate.

In addition, as the 12th highest-ranked qualifier on the CS, Mateus has received one of the wildcard spots for the Abu Dhabi event, along with Kauli Vaast, Bronson Meydi, and Macy Callaghan. He’ll be replacing Crosby Colapinto, who broke his elbow surfing Backdoor before the first event of the season.

Quite the hot streak: a new wife, a potential new sponsor, and a new dream in the space of a week.

Go Mat!

“Listen Mateus, I’d really like to put you on the team, but you’re gonna need to start wearing puffier shoes.” – Pat Tenore, probably. Official deal (hopefully) to come.
