Kelly Never Showed, But The Volcom Pipe Pro Finals Day Will Still Be Worth Inflating Your Screentime

Yesterday, we were saddened to learn that John Florence had pulled out of the Volcom Pipe Pro at the last minute, making his theoretical rematch against Noa Deane null and void. 

Then, a DM from an on-the-ground and typically reliable source informed us of the greatest possible consolation prize—that Kelly Slater had taken John’s spot and would attempt to win his third Volcom Pipe Pro in the remarkably still-pumping surf.

After posting this update on our Instagram stories, we received a bewildered “Huh?” from the shaved Syrian himself, who apparently had no idea what we were talking about.

Whoops!

Bad intel and Kelly’s unfortunate absence aside, finals day is on and should be delightful viewing.
