Joel Tudor Suspended Indefinitely From WSL Competition
3x World Champ allegedly engaged in “verbal assault,” among other things.
The WSL just released the following statement:
Joel Tudor has been suspended following conduct detrimental to the integrity of the WSL per the WSL Rule Book, which includes the violation of the following provisions: sportsmanlike conduct (14.02), damage to surfing’s image (14.04), and verbal assault (14.08). The duration of the suspension is currently under review.
Last month, the 45-year-old 3x Longboarding World Champion criticized the WSL about unequal pay for shortboard and longboard competitors via an Instagram post that has since been removed. The WSL responded by calling the post “misleading and unproductive,” which are strong words, but not as strong as “verbal assault.”
At press time, Stab could confirm the details of what led to the suspension. We’ll share more information as it becomes available.
