Here’s Brad Domke skimboarding at Nazaré

Photos by Pedro Miranda (FB / IG) Part of surfing’s very bizarre status quo can’t be described without mentioning Brad Domke. Domke is a surfer, yes, but what he’s most well known for in our world is riding his skimboard (with no upgrades, and mostly, no fins) on ridiculously big waves, like Puerto Escondido and The Right. And as we learn today, at Portugal’s filthiest, greasiest cheese Nazaré. Though he wasn’t there in the flesh, Domke’s filmer pal and all-round legend, Dylan Palmer, gives us a little context: “We’d just finished a fun day of surf at our home break in Florida,” says Dyl. “Brad, our boy Remy and myself were just kickin’ it, drinking some brews and checking out the long range forecasts around the world, when we decided to check Nazaré’s. And, woah… Brad has had his eye on Nazaré for several years – ever since it’s been on the map – and as soon as he saw this swell forecast he knew this was the one to pull the trigger on, with 12 to 15 feet and light winds. Three days later his ticket was bought and he was on his way. Unfortunately I was unable to go, but my birthday is on the 13th and Brad wants to snag a bomb for my b’day present (laughs) – that shit would be all time!”
