Gallery: Jordy Smith finds autumn glitter to the south

All photos by John Respondek Jordy Smith had just finished up a trunk shoot in Yamba with O’Neill, when a very fun-looking swell was spotted, heading for the south coast. Outta bed on monday morning at 4am, and eight hours later, after a coffee-fuelled bolt southward, Jordy and co rolled up to their, uh, chosen destination (#nonames). “We were messing around in the water for a while and got a few cool little morning Barrels,” says the man who framed this gallery, John Respondek. “The water was icy, so we went in to hang out on the beach with Woody (Jordy’s filmer) for a bit. The conversation got weird but funny. I think we were delirious from no breaky and lack of sleep. But it was a pretty good exchange of dirty stories and stuff. Jordy even picked up my camera to try to shoot a few frames.” What else should a surf trip be but the exchange of barrels, fun waves and dirty stories? The only difference between your surf trips and the surf trips of men like Jordy Smith, is the surfing. Which, in this case, is extraordinary.
