The Eddie Aikau Ceremony, with Makua Rothman
Makua Rothman has been invited to the Eddie Aikau event for 10 years in a row, since he was 18. He is, undeniably, Hawaiian royalty. This clip from RVCA offers a very rarely seen insight into the opening ceremony – the 2012 addition of which went down a few days ago. Oh, and, Makua’s voice, pride, bravery, and all the things that make him great, are a product of the surfing mecca he’s grown up in. Also, we’re looking like being on our final days of open comments. And, no, there is no Dane Reynolds in this clip so we know you’re going to be livid (but, take solace that John John is in the background of a few shots). Please play nice. Or clever. We know you’re out there.
