Dane Reynolds Held In Custody In Portugal

Dane Reynolds is currently being held in custody in Portugal, and has been for two days. Yes, that Dane Reynolds; the very lovely, very harmless gent from Ventura whose surfing you’ve adored since you first saw it. But, Portuguese border security don’t care about all that. All they care about is the fact that Dane arrived at immigration in Lisbon without a passport. Why? Because he’d misplaced it. Unfortunately for Dane, if there’s any body of enforcement who like rules, it’s border security.

“Dane Reynolds is currently being held captive and treated like a criminal at the Lisbon, Portugal International Airport Jail, yes, Jail!” writes Dane’s longtime filmer/pal, Jason ‘Mini’ Blanchard on Instagram. “All because he lost his passport! He’s been there for two days now. They took his phone, backpack, even his shoelaces WTF! And to top it off, the US Embassy is doing very little to help him.”

So far, no information has been given by officials about how long they intend to detain Dane. That’s a brutal situation, any way you slice it. Here’s hoping Mr Reynolds is being treated ok, and can get out of there as soon as possible.
