Confirmed: Fiji To Host 2025 WSL Finals
Cloudbreak will remain on tour until 2026.
The WSL has just confirmed Cloudbreak as the venue for the 2025 WSL Finals, as reported earlier this year.
The Fijian left breaking three miles off the heart-shaped island of Tavarua was reintroduced to this season’s CT schedule after a seven-year hiatus. This year’s event provides the league with an opportunity to fine-tune details and logistics while simultaneously attempting to lure in new viewers with a teaser for next year’s winner-take-all event.
“Cloudbreak is truly one of the best waves in the world, and hosting the Finals at such an iconic break is going to be incredible,” said Ryan Crosby in his first official statement as WSL CEO (read Undergunned’s open letter to Mr. Crosby here). “As our surfers continue to push the limits at every event, Cloudbreak will be the perfect place to showcase their progression and crown our World Champions next year.”
At time of publishing it is unknown if Ry Cro has ever surfed Cloudbreak. However, if he hasn’t, his words are further proof that the language of the tube is universally understood.
The Fijian left made its debut on the CT during the “Dream Tour” era, which coincided with Occy’s fabled comeback to win a world title in 1999.
Thanks to a three-year partnership with the Fijian Government, Cloudbreak will remain on tour at least until 2026 — right where it belongs. Fiji’s placement within the tour schedule will be determined each season. The location of the 2026 WSL Finals will only be announced next year.
Definitive dates for the 2025 WSL Finals and the full CT schedule will be announced later this season, following the completion of the 2024 WSL Finals at Lower Trestles.
