And thank you to Aviator Nation Dreamland and The Surfrider Hotel for hosting the evening.
“You just throw paint at the wall, you see what sticks, and then uhhh… you die,” offered Alex Knost last night, as he was asked about his EAST submission before the screening of our Finale at Dreamland in Malibu. Alongside him sat Ellis Ericson, Tom Morat, and the holy spirit of Mark Richards (who couldn’t make it Stateside) — all four anxiously awaiting the results of Mikey February’s alternative surfboard safari.
In front of our panelists, hundreds of Southern California’s most elegant surf voyeurs huddled, sat, and squinted with Konas in hand and palpable apprehension hanging in the air.

“I think the biggest assumption is that you’re gonna be able to rip on all the boards,” laughed Mikey February. “And, not all the boards went well. But that’s good, because some of the boards went amazing,” he smiled, looking across at the craftsmen on stage.
“I definitely found what I was looking for, and I feel like the experiment was a success,” finished Mikey.
We’ll have a full clip of the pre-film panel discussion on site soon for you to watch.
Spoiler alert: If you don’t want to know who won this year’s EAST, now’s the time to stop scrolling.

As the discussion finished, the lights dimmed and the speakers flared. Cheers erupted as each shaper appeared on screen and, as each elimination arrived, so too did hearty applause from the live audience.
At the end, one man was left, sitting in the corner with a beer and a blazer, scratching his head to the sound of whoops and cheers — wondering how he’d just won EAST with Mikey February.
Congratulations to our 2025 EAST Champion, Ellis Ericson.
