A Good Year – Part ten
Lessons learned in 2010, or new year’s resolutions for 2011? Craig Anderson: I feel like I want to become a bit more worldy. I want to start reading a lot more and just try to be a bit smarter, I feel like a bit of a dumb-ass at the moment. I finished school and all I’ve been doing is surfing, I just feel like I’ve gotten dumber. Dion Agius: Things can get real weird when you don’t have the ocean close by to are able to go and enjoy it whenever you want. You realise how much you take it for granted to be able to cruise down to the beach and go for a quick slay to clear your head. Jay Davies: I’ve realised that surfing’s a big part of my life and you’ve gotta take advantage of the good things about it while you can. ‘Cause at one stage I was doing ‘QS’s in Europe and it was just horrible, I started hating surfing and hating doing what I was doing. Then I finally just realised that I didn’t want to do contests, and now I’ve learnt that it’s all about just enjoying surfing and enjoying my time while I get to do this. Ozzie Wright: I want to just be healthier and look after myself more. Try and be the best i can be and live as long as I can. That’s usually mine every year (laughs). Wade Goodall: Smoking isn’t cool. That’s what I’ve learnt. You do it for so long, partying, and then you just come to realise that… this is fucked. I’m not doing myself any favours. Don’t smoke, kids! Dave Rastovich: TO NEVER RUSH.
