Forget What Your Mama Told You, Surfing And Drinking Mix Just Fine

Look, we tried it.

Is there an alcohol-to-surf ratio we need to know about?

If you’re a highly functioning alcoholic, like the intern, you’ve probably wondered why there’s not a floating tiki bar in the lineup. For me personally, a couple beers before a surf doesn’t hurt. Actually does the opposite. Little bit of liquid confidence clears the head and makes me less likely to hesitate. Being a smaller fella, four drinks is usually the point where balance becomes hindered and decent judgement leaves the playing field. I wasn’t exactly going pro before getting inebriated, so performance-wise, it’s unnoticeable.

But what about a top-notch surfer? What’s their limit? Are drunk air reverses possible? For legal reasons, I am not encouraging you to drink and surf, but all the cool, responsibly drinking 21-and-older cool guys are doing it.

Disclaimer: Yeah I used fucking High Noons and not actual beers. I wasn’t exactly turned on by the idea of sucking down foam the whole time I was out there, figured seltzers would handle being shaken up better than beer (I was right). I get it, you’re tough, you’re a tough guy, tough guys don’t drink girly seltzers. GRRRRRRRR
