Channel Islands Surfboards just released the Two Happy, a performance shortboard model created by Britt Merrick.
The official literature says: “The Two Happy takes all the speed, flow, and maneuverability of the original Happy but makes it more user-friendly for a broader range of surfers and conditions.”
We haven’t tried one yet, but we’ll be sure to offer our own analysis in the coming months.
It’s worth noting that Two Happy is not the Happy Groveler that took second in Stab In The Dark With Taj Burrow. Rather, it’s a 2.0 version of the original Channel Islands Happy model—a standard-sized performance shortboard.
The Two Happy features an added entry rocker and increased double concave. Compared to the original Happy, it’s meant to be looser, rolls rail to rail easier, and allows better carves in the pocket. Refer to 1:20 for a visual.
The team at Channel Islands (you know just: Dane Reynolds, Eithan Osborne, Parker Coffin, Luke Swanson, Michael February, Bobby Martinez, Michael Dunphy, Yadin Nicol, Tanner Gudauskas, Sebastian Zietz) spent the last few months putting the board to the test.
Their feedback: Exceptionally fast, responsive, and easy to paddle.
