Steph Gilmore’s Secrets Revealed in Vogue

“You know what feels good.”

Whatever Steph’s on, we want some. Is it an Asterix style potion that gives Miss Gilmore her elegant charm, blinding smile, and touch sensitive surfing style? Is it an elixir passed down through generations of fabulous, powerful women? No, unfortunately, it’s all green smoothies and pilates. But, here’s the awesome thing, Steph eats everything. Ever dated a vegan? About as much fun as getting stuck in an elevator with Donald Trump.

Steph’s our mainstream surf darling, and it’s not hard to see why. She’s charismatic and bubbly, and is the epitome of the empowered modern woman – she surfs better, and earns more money than, well, 45% of male pro surfers? Here she shares a little of her health regime with Vogue.

Steph doesn’t change things up too much when she’s in contest mode, and Stab even spotted her enjoying our little soiree mid Quik pro, although unlike us she wasn’t gorging on free Corona and brisket. “You know what feels good,” says Steph, “and when you eat good food then you definitely feel better and you perform better; that’s for anyone really and any type of life.”

As for hitting the gym, Steph dabbles, but likes to keep it fun. “I also train with a guy up on the Gold Coast,” she explains. “We do normal gym work but he always makes it really fun – a little bit of circuit then a little bit of martial arts stuff.” Although her true feelings, like her radiant smile, shine through at the end. “I mean the gym’s pretty boring, I’d way rather be doing something else.” Amen to that  Stephanie, and on that note, the easter break is nigh. Think we might soon down tools and explore the notion of, “something else.”
