Ryan Callinan Swings For An Audience Of Three, Newcastle

“Ryan has been surfing so, so good since he’s been home,” says Newcastle-based surf photographer, Bosko, who captured this angle of Ryan Callinan at his local beach, Merewether, post-Tahiti. After a painfully close loss to Julian Wilson in round two of the Billabong Pro, Tahiti (Julian clocking a 13.84 combined total to Ryan’s 13.50), Mr Callinan returned home to keep his small wave game finely tuned pre-Hurley Pro, Lowers, which starts September 7. This left is close to where Ryan learnt to surf, and regardless of all the magnificent, exotic waves he has the pleasure of surfing through the year, there really is nothing quite like surfing back at your home break.
