Is there anything sweeter than finding a new wave with a couple of friends, mid-summer? Especially when it’s fun enough that aerial-wizard Ry Craike (pictured here) is calling it the best punt wave he’s surfed in onshore winds. Craikey and some buddies recently took a boat out to search the coast around where they live in Western Australia, in hopes of finding something new. Eventually they found this cute little left-hand reef, but on arrival the tide was a bit too low and the end section was going dry. After a little wait, the tide started to fatten out and the previously too-dry end section suddenly became a fun-as-shit ramp section. Kerby Brown, who shot this sequence of Ry, says:
“The wind was strong offshore so it wasn’t ideal for airs, but Craikey was foaming at the mouth to find a sweet new little left that we had never seen before. There were even little shacks on the take off! We will definitely be hitting it again when it’s light onshore. Craikey was calling the best punt wave you could get with onshore winds. Good to know there is still a heap of new spots yet to be surfed on our coast. We finished off the day by trawling home and snagging a yellow fin tuna for sashimi later that night!”
