Photolyfe: Chris Cook
Dive into the New York —> San Fransisco transplant / #FeelsLikeFreedom photo comp winner’s work in 35mm.
The fourth of our six #FeelLikeFreedom Photolyfe series stars 25-year-old Chris Cook from Long Island, New York.
Chris shoots (almost) exclusively in 35mm film with a NikonFm. “All these photos [below] are unedited,” he tells Stab. Which, in the digital age, is commendable. There’s something special about waiting for a roll of film to develop and cherishing your one chance and the imperfections that follow.
Although, admittedly, the image he won the Feels Like Freedom Instagram comp with he shot on digital.
“I started shooting film during my senior year of college,” Chris says. “After I graduated I hoped on the first flight to Australia to chase the winter swells from there to Indo and back. My first real swell in Indo was the so-called “Century Swell” at Kandui. I got the best waves and photographs of my life then.
“Nowadays I’m living in San Francisco. I work at Big Dog Surf Camp and as a residential real estate agent. I’ve recently stepped up my lens game and am really excited to expand my range. I prefer to shot film because I love the unknown that comes with it.”
