One of the rules of Full Frames is a loose 48-hour bracket. But look at this thing – even though it was taken last week, we couldn’t let it go to waste. Day of the year in Ventura County, photog Pete Taras cruised up to meet some local guys, but understandably they couldn’t wait and were already on it by the time he arrived. He strolled down the beach and set up shop, but felt the heat of a few unhappy locals. “I was just standing on the beach solo, looking like a wounded duck. One guy told me to beat it, another guy asked how long it took me to drive there. I calmly responded ‘four hours’  as he walked passed me. I hate localism but I respect it and I understand why they were up in arms with photographers being up there. I mean, look at it.” If you’re on someone else’s patch, an underlying sense of entitlement on the local’s behalf is to be expected. But when it’s this good out, most surfers would deal with a lot more than localism to get a piece of the pie.
