“A Fu$*ton Of Snow, Dangerous Roads, 30-Degrees and Totally Worth It”
Seth Conboy ain’t afraid of no blizzard!
While the winter weather bomb the Northeast saw earlier this mont might have thinner-skinned surfers packing up their 5/4’s ’til the first signs of spring, New Jersey’s Seth Conboy has been on a good one, scoring sandbar pits and puntable ramps by himself.
“We’ve been having some pretty strange weather patterns going on over here in the Mid-Atlantic for the start of 2018,” says Seth (pictured above). “It’s been one of the coldest winters surfing here I can remember. Water temps are down to mid-30’s and the waves have been consistent. We’ll get a flush of super cold weather, bringing in a few days of swell, followed by warmer southern wind swell. I’ve surfed 10 times in the past 5 days, constantly getting in and out of a 5/4 and 7mm boots and gloves. It’s so fucking worth it though, it’s that good. Quality over quantity over here on the East Coast. I wouldn’t trade it for anything—small line ups and perfect surf.
Oh yeah, and a fuck-ton of snow, harsh winter conditions, dangerous roads, and freezing temps. All that and really fucking good surf.”
