For most of the top 34, Hawaii has lulled out a little. The Billabong Pipe Masters is a wrap. Kelly Slater bagged the trophy. And Mick Fanning, pictured here, is the new world champion.
For those who’ve stuck around, the news might be good: “Tomorrow looks like it could be pretty wild,” says photographer Ryan Miller. “No one really knows for certain what’s going to happen, since the direction is super west.”
But for now, it’s all about lighting up whatever’s around, with no pressure and no cares. “This was shot with a long lens in the water,” says Miller of this from-behind Mick slice. “Was so nice swimming a ton this year and making a departure from my normal program in Hawaii.”
