Kolohe Andino, Oceanside, US
Seventeen-year-old Kolohe Andino here is a talented young man. Kid just managed to win both the Pro Junior and main ‘QS event at the Vans Pier Classic, Huntington Beach. In the final of the ‘QS, he beat Adrian De Souza, Taylor Knox and Damo Hobgood, via some truly decent frontside finners. In this instance of new versus old, new triumphed. Thanks to sponsorship from Nike, Target, Red Bull and Skull Candy, Kolohe’s a commercial and media wet dream (in the best way possible). But this black and white representation kinda strips all that away for a moment – it’s just the one they call Brother, flaring a backside air over an Oceanside left. It’s hard not to love simplicity.
