Julian Wilson, toe on the trigger, Keramas
Sure, Joel Parkinson won the Oakley Pro, Bali. Sure, Julian Wilson, pictured here, scooped a fifth. But it’s the moments like this that you’ve gotta not let slip by. The arc of spray, the hint of fin, the intensity on Jules’ face, and the pinch of tree. These are the reasons this event was excellent. Ain’t a surfer in the field who didn’t step up their game considerably. What began as what we all believed would be the high performance contest of the year, and it kinda was (thanks, John John), soon turned into the best mid-sized tube and power surfing event we’ve seen in some time. And there ain’t a thing wrong with that. Bravo.
