“This place is wild trying to find surf using cell phones,” says the photographer, Ryan Miller. “I got a text from Jules saying he was heading to this spot I’d never been to before. Just after that, his phone went out of service. I had to drive down a wild road to the end then get out and walk along 30 minutes. After 20 minutes of walking with all my gear and not seeing shit I was baffled. You so start to doubt yourself in that situation, about whether you’re even in the right spot at all. Finally I found him and Jimmy Lees, and was beyond relieved. The waves were pumping and Jules was going huge on this left. This varial was massive and he stomped it but fell off when trying to ride out of it.”
