This is Jay Davies surfing North Point, a session shared with John John Florence (who you’ll see duckdiving below). “Pretty sure Jay nailed more airs though,” says the photographer, Shane Dawson. “Sally fitzgibbons was out there to mixing it up with the boys too, getting a few tips off JJF on how to nail airs. I was actually there filming Sally, and getting a few shots of the boys on my spare camera meanwhile. Sally was charging all week too, getting ready for the Margs contest – eight to 10 foot Margs every day, sometimes out there on her own.” Sally and Margs aside, Jay Davies is absolutely one of the main man when it comes to the West (along, of course, Mr Taj Burrow). Would we’d really like to see, is Mr Davies as a wildcard in the Margaret River World Tour event, which starts on a coupla weeks. Wouldn’t that be something…
