Full Frame: Back Lit And Corked Out In Southern Portugal

New Year’s Day saw the Eastern Atlantic come alive in a real way, some surfers scattering for sheltered locales to enjoy 2018’s bright and brilliant first day. 

“I went down to Lagos for New Year’s,” says Gony Zubizarreta, pictured above popping the cork at a bubbly Southern Portuguese beachie the night after. “We had a nice dinner at Marlon Lipke’s house, Veronica from Casa Mae brought really nice wine, and we celebrated until very late at [the Lipke family’s] Mellow Loco*, partying in the little Lagos streets. The first day of the year, we woke up to these empty wedges close to the beach, just the perfect start to 2018.”
