Dion Agius, backside stalefish, northern NSW

“Tried around a million stalefishes,” said Dion Agius on the first Lost Atlas trip, with Craig Anderson and Owen Wright in Mexico. “Didn’t land one. What would you rather have me do?” And such is progression – back in the early days of Lost Atlas, Dion was talking about how tough frontside stalefishes are. And now, he’s throwing them backside. Can you imagine gripping one of these after lifting off with your back to the wall? Awkward! So, what’s the secret to aerial enthusiasm? “Coffee!” says Matty O’Brien, who shot this during a mid north-coast sojourn. “Boy, we downed some coffee. When you’re hanging with Dion, Thom (Pringle) & Riley (Blakeway), you’re always bound to fire up a few coffees. After Dion threw this lil’ backside stale at some shitty beachie, we packed up and headed to the closest cafe for an out-a-house coffee.” Kids, take note – if you wanna huck difficult grabs, java is your best pal.
