Chris ‘Chippa’ Wilson, FS Shuvit attempt, Iluka

Y’all know Chippa by now. There’s hype on the kid and with good reason. He’s taking his surfing to places seldom seen in the ocean before. But one of the most admirable things about Chip’s technical ability is his consistency and interest in innovation. Chippa loves to try new moves and once he nails a couple, the strike rate jumps-up scary quick. Photog Matty O’Brien’s email contained the sequence you see above, along with these words: “Check this front-shuv attempt from Chippa. He was so close! Rumor has it he nailed a front big-spin in Hawaii, but this front-shuv attempt was enough to make me lose my mind. The guy is so tech, the shit he’s been trying the last few days is fucked-up. We did a lil’ road trip down to Iluka with a few of Chip’s mates and got so skunked by the rain. Our tent flooded last night and we ended up sleeping in the back of a car. The copious amounts of beer we consumed did little to ease the frustration of mosquitos and rain.”
