Alejo Muniz, Kerrupt Flip in Durban, South Africa
Alejo Muniz (pronounced Ah-Lay-Ho), was born in Argentina, but raised and resides in Brazil. The Brazilians passionately claim the kid as their own, and who can blame them? His 5’11”x18’1/4”x2’1/4” Firewire moves so quick that commentators at his maiden WT event, the Quik Pro, Gold Coast, dubbed him ‘The Ninja’. Or maybe it was just us calling him that. Either way, his turns are like lighting tap. Along with Jules Wilson, Alejo’s one of only two true 2011 Dream Tour rookies and along with Jadson Andre is one of the two youngest guys on tour (aged 21). He may’ve so far had a fifth, a 13th and a 25th, but kid’s hungry. Ambitious, too – just look at this Kerrupt flip he blasted in Durban yesterday in front of Ryan Miller. Alejo’s surfing suits long, walling rights, so the Billabong Pro, J-Bay (which starts in three days) may be right up his alley.
