Yago Dora Just Signed With WHO!? A Stab Mic Excerpt
Dooma + Josiah discuss one of the best pickups the surf industry’s seen in a long time.
Strike while the iron’s hot.
2025 World Champion, Stab High Sydney Monster Air winner, and GQ Brasil Sportsman of the Year Yago Dora has split with longtime sponsor Volcom, landing at an independently owned label Vissla founded in 2013 by former Bong CEO Paul Naudé.
“This has to be one of the best pickups the surf industry’s seen in a very long time. Well done,” wrote Josh Kerr following the announcement.
From a brand POV, it tracks. Vissla’s whole identity (see their slogan: Creators & Innovators) is built on backing surfers with brains and backbone. Think: marine scientist Cliff Kapono, bass-jump junkie Matt McGillivray, the inimitable shaper Donald Brink and cerebral afroman Liam O’Brien.
Stylish, dangerously complete, and universally liked, Yago is one of the cleanest brand-to-surfer alignment we’ve seen in years. And their best chance of a Vissla World Title since their inception.
The video above is from our pilot ep of the new StabMic — a weekly-ish surf news show that may air early 2026, hosted by Damien Fahrenfort and Josiah Amico.
