When Nate Florence Endorses A Product, We Listen

In partnership with Vans

On April 1st of this year, Nate Florence joined brothers John and Ivan to complete the trinity of their namesake brand — Florence. The six-figure deal, which included equity and a seat alongside his brothers as a product tester and decision maker, was impossible to ignore.

As such, he waved farewell to his longtime patrons at Vans, a company he has spent over two decades working with. Except, he didn’t close the door completely on the titans of arch support.

As we reported here, though Nate may have stepped away from his head-to-toe sponsorship with Vans, he remains a representative of Vans footwear — with his familial sponsor obligations reaching only to his ankles.

Nate and Vans have worked on numerous collections together over their extended relationship, and, in tune with his utilitarian needs, have now released an adventure focused shoe.

“The MTE Crosspath pulls visual cues from Vans storied skateboarding footwear. But, it balances its aesthetic with a technically advanced build designed to tackle uneven ground, inclement weather, and whatever else you can throw at it.” Photo via Vans

“The new Crosspath was developed as kind of a continuation of the Ultra Range collections,” he tells us. “Basically focusing on the main hurdles of how far can a shoe go and how long can you wear it comfortably. It’s a really durable shoe with water proof features, can be taken into most environments. Lots of shoes do well hiking cause the ground is softer, but then you walk around town on concrete for a while and things start to hurt. With the MTE Crosspath, the comfortability is through the roof and they’re light. Great shoe.”

Long layovers? Sorted. Photo by Vans

The upper canvas of the shoe is made of 100% recycled PET, the midsole is made with at least 50% biobased EVA foam partially derived from plants, and is USDA-Certified Biobased. Additionally, 31% of the rubber used to make the outsole is regeneratively grown natural rubber sourced from farms utilizing agricultural practices intended to promote biodiversity, enhance water cycles, improve soil health, and/or sequester carbon.

They don’t suck for the planet, and they work for the man with the most precise phalanges in the heavy water game.
