We Gather Here Today To Celebrate Al Merrick’s Contributions To Society In The Form Of The MOCI (Museum Of Channel Islands)
Finally, a museum that celebrates art that matters.
The Louvre museum is located in Paris’ historic 1st arrondissement.
On its hallowed walls hangs Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Théodore Géricault’s Raft Of Medua, and a work by an unknown artist (estimated to be from 1594) depicting Gabrielle d’Estrées pinching her sister’s nipple.

Gabrielle d’Estrées was boring. She’s only really known because she was a mistress, confidante and adviser to Henry IV of France. And yet a painting of her gets to exist in the world’s most visited museum — how is that fair?
Wouldn’t we be better off celebrating Al Merrick of Channel Islands Surfboards instead?
Al is a shaper, not a nipple pincher — he views the human body as a temple and treats it with respect and admiration. Al has shaped some of the best surfboards ever, and he’s designed some of the world’s best fins. He’s an artist. The fact that he is not celebrated amongst other greats suggests that we live in an unjust world where chaos is the only truth.
Except wait.
Today, with the help of our friends at Futures, we unveil the MOCI (Museum Of Channel Islands) to celebrate Al’s work. It’s about time he gets the respect he deserves.
