Watch: The #MerciJeremy Expression Session
A heat dedicated to the 4x CT winner, Jeremy Flores featuring Mason & Coco Ho.
Jeremy Flores is the man.
A fiery Frenchman and the most successful European pro surfer of all time. Jez has four Championship Tour victories to his name including a historic win at home at the Quiksilver Pro France (2019), a pair of Pipe Masters (2010, 2017), and the Billabong Pro Teahupo’o (2015).
On top of that Jez has won the World Juniors, Rookie of the year, made the Olympics and is married to the Miss-France runner-up. Serious clout. He also can also deliver a knuckle sandwich or two, which made him quite the villain at Snapper in 2011 alongside Sunny Garcia.
Jeremy will no longer be competing on tour anymore. The 33-year-old has retired from CT competition despite making the cut for next year’s tour. The surf world will miss Jez’s incredible tube-riding, feistiness, and willingness to never duck a question in a post-heat interview.
Jez’s aloof reputation however leaves his philanthropic deeds criminally underappreciated. He sponsored Johanne Defay to do the Tour and he’s built a training center to help develop youth talent in Hossegor. He’s been a quiet benefactor to other causes in the broader surfing family, and he’s made a film about the shark situation in his native Reunion Island.
During the early stages of the Challenger Series Quiksilver Pro waiting period last week, a handful of the best surfers on deck at the Challenger Series event got together and had an expression session in honor of Jez’s career. The WSL ran the expression session in front of a passionate home crowd with all involved wearing #merciJeremy on their singlets.
Mason Ho and Rory Pringle were there to document the event and add their humorous twist to the contest.
