Following an almost-three-year hiatus, Vans will kick off the 2022 Duct Tape Invitational and Surf Festival event series in beautiful Sayulita, Mexico, April 20-23, 2022, to celebrate the diverse creativity and talent within the longboard community.

Marking its 10-year anniversary, the Duct Tape will gather an international community of surfers, artists, and shapers to spotlight the most talented longboarders globally, with an emphasis on style and originality, while shining a light on radical experimentation through unique surfboard shapers and their craft.

Hosted in the village of Sayulita, Mexico — an eclectic community where local surf culture is thriving — the first Duct Tape Invitational stop will welcome 32 longboarders to compete over the course of a four-day contest, featuring a women’s and men’s competition, offering equal prize purses.

Vans Duct Tape Invitational invitees include world-renowned talent and local favorites: Justin Quintal, Honolua Blomfield, Lola Mignot, Karina Rozunko, Kevin Skvarna, Tosh Tudor, Andy Nieblas, Rosie Jaffurs, Grant Noble, Jonathan Meledrez, Illianet Nuñez, and many more.

The Vans Duct Tape Festival will also welcome Vans team riders Lola Mignot, Alex Knost, Tomas Hermes, and Rowan Zorilla as featured surfboard builders, each sharing their own hand-shaped boards with the public.

The event provides plenty of opportunities for fans and spectators to connect with the competitors and featured shapers through on-site shaping activations, surf sessions, film screenings, a Duct Tape Skate Jam, and a sustainability experience on Earth Day. Vans Duct Tape will kick off the 2022 MexiLog Fest, a locally produced 10-day surf festival in Sayulita, further elevating and building upon this iconic surf community.
