Caity Simmers released ‘Toasted’ a 23-minute ode to a good surf film, her childhood, and the rise of the female surfer.

Be teased.

Caity partnered with Stab to build her first film project. The 17-year-old knew what she wanted—she picked the direction, the sound, the style—and we helped connect a few dots. You can read about her internship experience here.

A glimpse inside the fold of Toasted’s early creative.

We think Caity’s project is excellent—monumental even. But we’re biased—everyone gets an A when they grade their own paper.

So we asked a 10 people who we admire for their two cents. Below are reviews of ‘Toasted’ from Kael Walsh, Yago Dora, Frankie Harrer, Jaleesa Vincent, Eithan Osborne, Balaram Stack, Noa Deane, John John Florence, and Mikey Mallalieu.

Kael Walsh | Stab Edit Of The Year/Bitcoin Whale

“I thought it [Toasted] was an amazing film! That Mexico section with all the girls landing airs was special and could be a stamp in surf history.”

Jaleesa Vincent | Whimsical Creative, Layback Enuthsustaist, And Creator Of ‘Macaroni In a Pot.’

“Fucking hell! That’s what I’m talking about! Sickest film! I feel like I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. So frothing to go whack it. Pussy power. Love the music and the rawness. I’m proud of Caity.”

Yago Dora Title Contender When Lefts Are On Tour

“I think [Toasted] was the highest level of surfing ever displayed by the girls! Technically perfect, sick style, the most fun I’ve had watching a surf video in a few years.”

Frankie Harrer | Mom Who Drops Teahupo’o Faces And Film Parts

“Toasted’ is so sick! The film is insane and opens up more space for women in the surf vid world, which I think is so important. Plus, you feel Caity’s personality.”

Eithan Osborne | Champion Of Stab Highway CA, And Survivor Of The Burrito That Bit Back.

“Surfing is fucking good Caity’s funny asf, and her music choice was sick. She did what she wanted, and it reflected her personality perfectly.”

Balaram Stack | Vans Pipe Masters Champion

“Caity’s got the style, the demeanor, and the full talent package for the new generation of women’s surfing.”

Noa Deane | Starred In ‘NOZ VID,’ The Stab Film Of The Year

I enjoyed the film, and it got me fired up to surf. I was bummed I didn’t get see it on the big screen. The way she got involved in making the film is so sick. And how she surfed, looking like a loaded spring, reminded me of Dane.

I was stoked to see her friends going to complete combo town in Mexico. The highlight for me was the cutback fin ditch—I had to rewind that; Harry [Bryant] and I nearly missed our flight watching ‘Toasted’ because we were so glued. 10/10 sick video will be watching it many times.

John John Florence | Check Out Ep 5 Of HSGP For Industry Talk With JJF

“You can see Caity’s potential in her Toasted edit. I’m looking forward to watching her on tour.”

Mikey Mallalieu | Creator Of ‘NOZ VID’

“Toasted does what a surf movie should—gets you psyched to go surf. I think this film will inspire a whole generation of surfers, male & female – Caity created something she will be able to look back on in 10 years and be proud of.”
