The Tahiti Trials Event Might’ve Served Up The Best Heat Of 2023
Matahi Drollet and Eimeo Czermak drop perfect 10’s in the final at heavy Teahupo’o
The trials for the Tahiti Pro ran today at solid Teahupo’o.
Matahi Drollet won with a near perfect heat total of 19.80, while Eimeo Czermak came up short despite a wholesome 18.17 points to his name.
Both gents put on a masterclass in frontside and backside tuberiding, and Filipe Toledo who will now have to face Matahi in the first round, is presumably rattled.
Working in Fil’s favor is the forecast. It’s dropping. Like almost every event this season, the swell is predicted to peak before the waiting period, and remain modest throughout.
If Surfline was called today 10-15ft, they’re calling the next 10 days 4-6ft.
Yes, sad.
Post note: We’ll have a proper Tahiti preview piece dropping soon with more detailed forecasting and event info.
