The Only 48 Cutbacks We’ll Ever Rewatch
Europe’s oldest tongue meets a modern twin.
“Surfing is what brings me back to my 7-year-old self, ” Garazi Sánchez told Stab. The Basque native’s edit is an ode to the Peter Pan effect.
Growing up has a crude sense of irony. We spend lifetimes chasing money, sex, and theories of success just to feel like a kid again.
Many unlock their purest form in the ocean, where we are small, even emaciated in the blue infinity. Others need the vibrations of EDM and green laser beams. Some only feel lightness at the bottom of a rum and Coke. Our system is broke. And, dear reader, you probably are too. Which is why we’re both here playing one of capitalism’s lil games.

With speed, generational elegance, and gig coaching the Spanish parasurf team, 33-year-old Garazi (which translates to “Grace” in Basque*) has evaded the trappings of adulthood in Mexico — where the slow sunsets and rural landscapes remind her of an older earth.
Garazi’s 5-minute edit, “GALAXIA” is like a kite string attached to a star — mesmerizing yet simple — and consists of 48 cutbacks, one 360, and a couple lip taps. Dare we ask more of life?
Lovers of the ebb & flow, enjoy the gift of Garazi Sanchez above.
P.S. The yellow twin is Derrick Disney, pink is a Lemon Surfboards experiment — in case you want to copy/paste.
