“The Most Beautiful Surfboard Factory In The World”
Inside the dashing Euroglass headquarters.
“The best machines, the best shapers, the best blanks, you have everything you need” – Kanoa Igarashi.
Founded in 1990 by Stephen Bell, the Euroglass factory has shaped boards for the biggest names in the sport for three decades. “Every CT surfer over the past thirty years has had boards shaped by Belly,” says 11x World Champ Kelly Slater. Currently, five shapers work out of Euroglass: Mark Richards, Christian Bradley, Marcio Zouvi (Sharpeye), Mark Phipps and Phil Grace.
Based in Hossegor in SW France, the Euroglass factory, unlike many other filthy and chaotic shaping dens, is immaculate and organized. “Everything is white and clean and in its place,” says the GOAT. Stephen Bell, better known as ‘Belly’ is the brain behind its tidy feng shui. “I didn’t know why surfboard factories had to be dirty or live up to any regulations,” says Belly. “Nothing was in its place and I thought it didn’t have to be like that.”
