The Best Wave Ridden On Teahupo’o’s Biggest Day Since Code Red
Eimeo Czermak does the honors.
While the world’s eyes were fixed on South Africa, Tahiti quietly roared to life yesterday, on what Surfline is calling the biggest swell since the Code Red day in 2011.
Far from the seamless cerulean bowls Teahupo’o is known for, the waves yesterday were off-brown and misshapen. While a few notable visitors braved the storm (Billy Kemper, Kala Grace, Noah Beshcen et al.), as usual, it was the locals who set the pace.
JJF doppeldogger Eimeo Czermak secured what many have called the best-ridden wave of the swell — a ferocious, gurgling mass of water that reportedly consumed him at its conclusion.
There will inevitably be more footage to come, but according to Billy Kemper, this was the biggest wave that came through all day.
