Surfer Has Close Call With A Massive Tiger Shark In Hawaii
Estimated to be 12 to 15 feet long…
Gavin Klein was attacked by a tiger shark while surfing on the Island of Kauai. Luckily, the only damage done was to Klein’s board. The imprint of the bite is massive, and based on the size of the jaws; The shark is estimated to be between 12 and 15 feet in length.
“I was in transition from sitting to prone, looking back at a wave my uncle just caught,” explains Gavin Klein. “Felt like I ran into a rock, looked forward, and a big gray head was latched on to the nose of my board. I ended up sliding off my board over its head. Really a miracle I wasn’t hurt.”
Since Gavin’s FishBeard took quite a blow, the kind folks over at Channel Islands have offered to send a replacement, free of charge. I’m not a believer in the concept of surfboards being ‘wall hangers’ but this one gets my blessing.
