Shark Cops Mouthful Of Pyzel After Surfer Ducks & Weaves Out Of Harm’s Way
Surfing post-floods is not a good idea.
A Sydney surfer’s board has been left with teeth marks and a big dent in their Pyzel after a shark attack yesterday morning.
According to Channel 9:
The surfer was swimming at Maroubra Beach in the city’s east when the shark appeared and bit his board about 7.50am. Photos show the surfboard with a sizeable dent and apparently scratched by the shark’s teeth following the close call, which luckily the surfer escaped from unharmed.
“A close encounter with a shark this morning at 7.50am for this surfer at Maroubra Beach,” Randwick City Council said in a statement. “Thankfully nobody was injured. Lifeguards cleared the water following the incident.” The close call comes just weeks after diving instructor Simon Nellist was killed in Sydney’s first fatal shark attack in nearly six decades.
People have been advised not to surf in the murky waters that are ideal for ‘ambush’ attacks by confused predators. Following the fatality earlier this month, a series of SMART drumlines have been deployed from Little Bay to Bondi.
