Opening Day At Banzai w/ Nate + J Florence
The North Shore wakes up.
And just like that… a pulse! Over the past couple weeks, we’ve seen the first signs of Hawaii’s winter swell season spring to life.
Yesterday, Pipe was a good 10-15ft but far from perfect, with only a handful of guys out surfing. It was big enough to stir Waimea up a little, according to a Stab employee.
Typically, it takes a few swells to wash away the sand off the reef that gets deposited over the summertime. Based on this footy, you’d have to think that process has already begun.
For the next few months, Oahu will become the focus of the surf world again. In their respective order: we have the Haleiwa QS, Vans Pipe Masters, Da Hui Backdoor Shootout and Pipe Pro to come. With a bit of luck, perhaps even The Eddie.
In short, v good news for surf fans.
Allow John’s wave at 7:48 and Nate’s wave at 8:14 to get you squirrely.
