Need A Lil Break From Watching The Changas In Portugal?

Come to 58 Surf tomorrow night and watch some freesurfing.

Ribeira d’Ilhas is not a bad wave.

It’s just not a really good wave, and it happens to exist in the vicinity of some world-class setups. Within a kilometer and change of it, you’ll find a barreling left reef, a barreling right reef, and another right point that does all the things that Ribeira does not.

The CS is currently in town and, despite all the good surfing that’s been going down (George Pittar and Tya Zebrowski have been looking hammer-ish), you might need a break from number-based surfing. If you’re in the hood, you’ll have a chance to watch some of the surfing that goes down in this zone.

Billabong and 58 Surf are hosting a bit of a movie night, with edits from local boys Martim Fortes and João Maria Mendonça. There’ll also be a recap hit from the recent Alto Pro Am. It starts at 7 PM, and there’ll be tunes before and after.

João’s piece is proper fucked up — it’ll air right here as a Stab Edit of the Year entry later this month.

Spoiler alert: The boy doesn’t seem phased when the lines traveling in his direction take on a darker shade of blue.
