Luke Hemsworth’s Co-Star Sure Can Surf
Before he was a famous movie star, Rasmus was just the younger King brother.
In recent years, Rasmus King has taken a few large steps out of his older brother Kyuss’s formidable shadow. Namely, he starred in two major films in 2022.
The first, a movie with Luke Hemsworth called Bosch and Rockit (2022). Luke plays a scruffy drug-dealing father and Rasmus his surf-loving son. Rasmus was nominated for “Best Supporting Actor” at the Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards. The second movie was 6 Festivals by Oscar-winning director Macario de Souza about music and the coming-of-age of three friends (Rasmus plays one of them).
So, yes, ka-ching — that’s where the Pontiac Trans Am comes from.
The King family is awfully cool. They live on a farm outside of Byron Bay. Their Danish mother teaches yoga and allegedly cooks extremely well (Rasmus’s words). Their Aussie father is a hardworking guy with a vast music discography that he introduced to his children at an early age (Kyuss was named after the metal band, Kyuss).
Rasmus also makes music of his own, playing guitar and drums depending on his mood. He plays alongside Kyuss quite a bit.
The family also has a prodigious collection of surf craft — including one of the original quad fin boards in Australia (as you’ll see in the clip).
With an upbringing as polymathic, bohemian, and dare I say “hesh” as this, Rasmus got a great headstart in life. We’ll be seeing more of the “beloved” one on the big screen and in the water soon, I presume.
