Matt Banting Inks 2-Year Deal With Buell Wetsuits
Adding yet another name to their long, diverse roster of surfers.
Prior to COVID-19 Matt Banting seemed to be mounting the comeback we’ve all been waiting for.
The 26-year-old Port Macquarie native has had a rough go of things. After dealing with debilitating hip injuries dating back to 2015, it seemed Matt had finally gotten his competitive legs back under him in 2020. Posting a second at Sydney, making the quarters at Newcastle, and then winning the Vissla Central Coast Pro, Matt is still techincally the 2020 QS leader (and champion?), that is until competition resumes. When it does, Mr. Banting will be adorned in some new rubber courtesy of his two-year deal with Buell wetsuits.
Matt had this to say about joining the Buell team: I’m psyched to join the team with the likes of JOB, Dane and Sage. It feels good to be involved in an emerging brand in Australia. I love the suits and am honoured to be a part of the Buell program.

And think about that for a moment. Buell’s logos are now proudly emblazoned across surfing’s biggest Youtuber, Women’s CT veteran Sage Erickson, viral wave-pool sensation Jacob Szekely, and the #1* QS ranked surfer in Matt Banting. That’s all before mentioning their upcoming Sub-Division line with THE Dane Reynolds. With word from the North Shore being that seemingly every non-sponsored U18 surfer has a been rocking a Buell spring-suit, it seems as if their strategy of casting a wide net in terms of social capital has led to them reeling in the sales.
Congrats to Matt on his well-deserved deal. Click here to read our 2020 Wetsuit Test review of Buell wetsuits.
