Magno Pacheco Makes Public Apology After Yesterday’s Board-Flinging Incident
“Everything that happened was a mistake on my part.”
A day after a board-flinging fiasco went viral online, Magno Pacheco took to Instagram to make a public apology for sending his board at Levi Slawson as an act of frustration in the waning moments of a QS heat in the Dominican Republic last week.
We broke the whole thing down here, interviewing both surfers and getting a comment from the WSL.
Today, Magno posted his apologies in two videos, one in English and one in Portuguese. He apologized again to Levi and the surf community at large, saying he was happy Levi was okay. He again stated that he had no intention to hurt Levi but acknowledged his emotions got the better of him.
The video can’t be embedded, but you can watch it here.
Magno’s English caption: “The first thing I did in Dominican was compose myself and apologize to Levi. I am here to say once again after letting myself feel my feelings, I never intended on hitting Levi, my action in that moment was simply myself giving up and kicking my board out. I am thankful my actions with out thought did not injure Levi, I will apologize again I am sorry and as you said on the beach you forgive me. I am going to move on with my life and will learn from this experience, if you wish to take away all I have worked for I will accept this punishment and continue to work on myself.
“Levi I wish you well for the rest of your season and career, you are an incredible surfer and I hope that in time we can shake hands and move on.”
