Aside from a refined aquatic skillset and decent camera work, music is the most essential part of an edit.
There are plenty of talented surfers who have no problem stomping a massive full rotation but struggle to pick solid background noise. Choosing a dud of a soundtrack can be a huge turn-off with viewers, and licensing a decent song can be quite expensive.
The Solution?
Make your own music, like Luke Gordon in his most recent edit, ‘VACA.’ Luke isn’t scared of questionable end section, and he has no problem beaming out Santana-esque vibrations from his guitar either.
