Luke Cederman’s School For The Gracelessly Aging Pro Surfer
“Some people think taking off at 10-foot Chopes is hard, but have you ever separated your washing? It’s really tricky.”
“Being a professional surfer doesn’t teach you how to be an adult,” Dane Reynolds has said.
That, of course, hasn’t prevented the countless alcohol brands, real estate brokerages, clothing companies, surf schools, and poorly maintained hairlines that crop up in lieu of fading surf careers.
After a fall from waveriding grace, reintegration into the doldrums of regular society can feel like a taxing, clumsy process.
Fortunately, non-profit organization Pro to Peasant offers a cost-effective path to rejoining the ranks of the underprivileged.
“After I reached perfection in Fiji with those two 10s, I knew reaching peasantry was going to be hard, because I was so far away from it,” says Owen Wright, a currently transitioning athlete.
According to P2P coach Luke Cederman, “It’s really important that we’re patient with them during this period.”
